Recipient of the 1998 EASA Award

Richard Nailen accepts the Exceptional Achievement Service Award at EASA's 1998 Convention.
 

Mr. Nailen boasts a career that includes many important contributions. At the time of his nomination, he was the author of more than 360 published articles and 23 IEEE papers on electric motor design and application. His books, The Plant Engineers Guide to Industrial Electric Motors and Managing Motors, are frequently used resources throughout the industry.

Mr. Nailen began his career in 1953, designing large AC motors and generators for Westinghouse Electric. In 1964, he joined Louis Allis Company, where he was involved in the design and application of large induction motors. In 1985, he retired from Louis Allis and went to work for the Wisconsin Electric Power Company, where he worked on the application, maintenance, repair and testing of all the motors in the utility's generation stations. He has also served EASA for many years as a member of EASA's Technical Service Committee.
